Mortgage Hilarity…

Here’s a bit of fun for the weekend…

A friend of mine was in a line up this week to vote and after about a half hour of waiting, the young fella behind her says, “ Isn’t there and app for this?”. Love it. I figure they should have done the whole thing on Facebook and whoever has the most friends, wins.

Also, Cameron Wake, once a mortgage broker is now a “sack machine” for the Miami Dolphins. In 2006 he signed with the Giants but was cut before training camp. Wake embarked on a corporate career as a mortgage broker but the frustration he felt watching NFL games on TV only reinforced his conviction he belonged on the field. He mounted a comeback, played two brilliant seasons with the CFL’s B.C. Lions, signed as a free agent with the Dolphins and became a starting outside linebacker this year at age 28.

You probably didn’t know this but there a lot of similarities between being a mortgage broker and being a pro football player. I bet when Wake was a mortgage broker, he gave 110% to his clients, he stepped up to the plate and he didn’t drop the ball. It was most likely a team effort to get the mortgage done and he was probably always happy to take one for that team. I’m sure he gave the guy at the bank who tried to lure his client away “alot of credit”, but he was just the better man that day. I could go on, but I won’t. At the end of the day, it is what it is. Ok, I’m done now.

In the same vein, just in case the mortgage biz doesn’t work out for me, I’ve begun training for pro wrestling…I think it’s natural transition…

Lastly, I can’t resist posting this quote from the Lethbridge Herald circulating about Mr. Wake;

Inside linebacker Channing Crowder conceded he had his doubts when Wake first joined the Dolphins.

“I thought he was soft, like a metrosexual-type dude,” Crowder said. “He was always dressed in matching stuff and real quiet. And he was from Canada, so you have that preconceived notion he can’t play.”

Thank you Mr. Cameron Wake for proving to the world you should never underestimate mortgage brokers from Canada in matching stuff!
