Canadian Mortgage Hangout May 2nd 2013

By

As we do every Thursday, the Canadian Mortgage Hangout aired today live at 10am PST/1pm EST. Now, for those of you who don't know... the Canadian Mortgage Hangout is a Google+ hangout where professionals who work in the mortgage industry get together on a weekly basis to discuss all things relevant (and sometimes irrelevant) to what we do for a living. The goal is to open conversation around issues that we all face, but might not have anyone to talk with. If we can work together as a broker channel, we can increase our level of professionalism and we can be seen as credible in the eyes of the public.

Summary

This week we had special guest Michelle Mohr from BC join us to talk about a unique situation where a lender surcharged a client on renewal for having 32 years remaining on an amortization. We try to get to the bottom of it, hopefully we can have a guest from that lender on next week.

We also discussed the mortgage broker news article where Ron De Silva finds his name on the RedX list - what is RedX you ask, we have no idea either, but are pretty sure it is a society like the one talked about in "So I Married an Axe Murderer". Gord also shared the following video as we discussed some of the "best clients" we get!

Have a great week everyone - hopefully catch you next week from Toronto where Gord and I will be attending the CMP Summit.
