New Year’s Resolution: Protect Your Identity

By

As we embark on the new journey known as 2010 many of us have made a list of ways we’d like to improve ourselves. Whether it’s better diet, more exercise, healthier lifestyle habits, better financial discipline, or just good old fashioned determination to have more fun, one thing is sure: I don’t know anyone who wants to have a bad year this year.

One way to have a very bad year is to get your identity stolen. At the very least, it can be a terrible hassle. At the very worst, it could cost you a substantial amount of money and time – and can literally put your “good name” at risk.

Recently I received my property insurance renewal notice. I noticed that my insurance company, Millenium Insurance now offers identity theft protection for only $25 a year! Needless to say I signed up. If the worst happened at least I would have some coverage for the time, effort and expense needed to restore my good name.

Over the years we have seen a few clients who have had their credit damaged by identity theft, and it has made it more difficult for them to purchase a home, or refinance their mortgage. Don’t let it happen to you!

If you have any suggestions or resources of your own you’d like to mention, we’d love to hear from you.
