The Blog is Back!

We're back!

It's hard to believe it's been over two years since we published our last blog post. It's kind of shameful, really. Embarrassing, really. Our last update was a COVID-19 post. I think I'd like to ban that sentence from the blog forevermore. I know we're tired of talking about it here at First Foundation. We're incredibly grateful that we not only survived the past couple of years, individually, and as a business, but that we were fortunate enough to grow during that time. Quite a bit, actually. We're also really grateful that we're not a restaurant.

Why?

About 20 years ago First Foundation started as a mortgage brokerage dedicated to giving home buyers and home owners better rates and better choice about who they got their mortgages from. As time passed, we realized that our clients needed a bunch of other related services, like home insurance, life insurance, financial planning, and more. Then we realized that a lot of our clients also owned businesses...and needed things like commercial insurance, commercial banking and lending, group benefits for their employees, and things like that.

Our most important revelation came when we understood that nobody really wants the products we sell...but they want the end result that those products can give them. You don't want a mortgage. You want to own a home. You don't want charts and graphs and hundreds of pages of a financial plan...but you do want to grow your wealth and be ready for retirement. You don't want a stack of documents, otherwise known as an insurance policy, but you do want the protection you need for your family and your stuff.

Someone has to be a source of news, insight, analysis and truth to people who are buying homes, starting families, establishing careers, saving for retirement, and setting the next generation up for success. We think we can contribute to the conversation, at least, and have some fun doing it.

What's next?

Going forward we're going to be trying to produce more informative, educational, and maybe even entertaining content for you on our three favourite subjects: Home ownership, growing your wealth, and protecting what matters most to you. You can expect this to be a good place to find the news that is pertinent to those things, some insight and analysis from our team of subject matter experts, some thought-provoking opinion, and more. We'll try to mix it up with some short-form, some video (sorry, no Tik-Tok dancing brokers), and some guest experts from time to time.
