Meet Garnett: Commercial Insurance Manager, Mentor, and Avid Hobbyist!
Garnett, a seasoned commercial insurance expert, recently joined First Foundation as our Commercial Insurance Manager. In this role, Garnett is responsible for providing technical mentorship and stewardship to a diverse range of insurance programs across all sectors and industries. With over 20 years of experience in various roles throughout the field, Garnett's expertise spans from directly adjusting insurance claims to insuring businesses of all sizes, from the sole proprietor small contractor all the way up to companies with hundreds of employees and 25+ million in revenue.
Born and raised in Edmonton, Garnett now resides in St. Albert. Throughout his career, he has established a reputation for collaborative education for both colleagues and clients about the intricacies of commercial insurance. Garnett's ability to communicate complex insurance concepts in a clear and easy to digest manner without industry jargon has greatly contributed to the growth of every firm he has worked for.
Garnett's interest in First Foundation was sparked by the company's commitment to leveraging technology for efficiency and its focus on mentoring and building up divisions. His goal for the commercial insurance division is to achieve steady, significant growth year over year without compromising on service, collaboration, or quality of coverage. He believes that the best clients are those who fully understand their insurance programs and can make informed, empowered decisions.
Garnett holds a CAIB designation from the Alberta Insurance Council. In his free time, he enjoys playing recreational hockey, curling, and golfing. As a strategy tabletop game enthusiast, Garnett has represented Team Canada at international competitions, with his most recent event taking place in Blankenberge, Belgium. He also maintains a keen interest in cryptocurrency and web3.0 technologies, having built and operated a BTC mining operation before the 2020 halvening.
